RISK MOVE SERVE LEAD |

Notable Quotables, Proverbs, Words to live by |
Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new. – Albert Einstein I failed my way to success. Our doubts are traitors, and make us lose the good we oft might win, by fearing to attempt. Every failure brings with it the seed of an equivalent success. Failure is blindness to the strategic element in events; success is readiness for instant action when the opportune moment arrives. They fail, and they alone, who have not striven. We learn wisdom from failure much more than success. "Risk more than others think is safe. Care more than others think is wise. Dream more than others think is practical. Expect more than others think is possible. " When you make a mistake, don't look back at it long. Take the reason of the thing into your mind, and then look forward. Mistakes are lessons of wisdom. The past cannot be changed. The future is yet in your power. Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goal. |

“Action is the foundational key to all success.” – Pablo Picasso Obstacles don't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Stop wasting time defending your problems and work on addressing them instead.” “It is not enough to stare up the steps, we must step up the stairs.” ~ Vaclav Havel “The secret of life isn’t what happens to you, but what you do with what happens to you.” ~ Norman Vincent Peale “We all have ability. The difference is how we use it.” – Stevie Wonder “As I grow older, I pay less attention to what men say, I just watch what they do.” ~ Andrew Carnegie “Nothing diminishes anxiety faster than action.” ~ Walter Anderson “It’s not what you’ve got; it’s what you do with what you got..that makes the difference.” “If you don’t go after what you want, you’ll never have it. If you don’t ask, the answer is always no. If you don’t step forward, you’re always in the same place.” ~ Nora Roberts “If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always gotten.” ~ Tony Robbins “The best preparation for tomorrow is to do today’s work extremely well!” “The secret of getting ahead is getting started” – Mark Twain “The person who never made a mistake never tried anything new.” – Albert Einstein “If you don’t design your own life plan, chances are you’ll fall into someone else’s plan. And guess what they have planned for you? Not much.” – Jim Rohn "All growth depends upon activity. There is no development physically or intellectually without effort, and effort means work." - Calvin Coolidge "Formula for success: Rise early, work hard, strike oil." -- John Paul Getty "The dictionary is the only place where success comes before work." -- Mark Twain "I've always believed that if you put in the work, the results will come. I don't do things half-heartedly. Because I know if I do, then I can expect half-hearted results." Michael Jordan "The big secret in life is that there is no big secret. Whatever your goal, you can get there if you're willing to work." -Oprah Winfrey "Four things for success: work and pray, think and believe." -- Norman Vincent Peale "If you believe in what you are doing, then let nothing hold you up in your work. Much of the best work of the world has been done against seeming impossibilities." -- Dale Carnegie "Nothing will work unless you do." -- Maya Angelou "There is no substitute for hard work." -- Thomas Edison "When you discover your mission, you will feel its demand. It will fill you with enthusiasm and a burning desire to get to work on it." W. Clement Stone "Do more than dream: work." -- William Arthur Ward
PERSISTENCE “The elevator to success is out of order. You’ll have to use the stairs… one step at a time.” – Joe Girard “The secret of getting started is breaking your complex, overwhelming tasks into small manageable tasks, and then starting on the first one.” – Mark Twain “The major difference between the big shot and the little shot is the big shot is just a little shot who kept on shooting.” – Zig Ziglar “When you come to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on.” – Franklin D. Roosevelt “The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get it and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! Now if you know what you’re worth then go out and get what you’re worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain’t you! You’re better than that!” – Rocky Balboa “We are made to persist. That’s how we find out who we are.” -Tobias Wolff “Our greatest glory is not in never falling but in rising every time we fall.” – Confucius “Most of the important things in the world have been accompanied by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all.” – Dale Carnegie “Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination are omnipotent. The slogan ‘press on’ has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.” ~ Calvin Coolidge “If you get up one more time than you fall, you will make it through.” ~ Chinese Proverb

Service is the rent we pay to be living. It is the very purpose of life and not something you do in your spare time. …no matter how big government gets, and no matter how many services it provides, it can never take the place of volunteers. Nothing liberates our greatness like the desire to help, the desire to serve. Your talent is God's gift to you. What you do with it is your gift back to God. All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance and should be undertaken with painstaking excellence. There is no exercise better for the heart than reaching down and lifting people up. "You must judge a man by the work of his hands." -- African Proverb The broadest, and maybe the most meaningful definition of volunteering: Doing more than you have to because you want to, in a cause you consider good. Believe, when you are most unhappy, that there is something for you to do in the world. So long as you can sweeten another's pain, life is not in vain. He who lends to the poor gets his interest from God. The best way to find yourself, is to lose yourself in the service of others. Far and away the best prize that life has to offer is the chance to work hard at work worth doing. Even in darkness, light dawns for the upright, BROTHERHOOD You lift me, and I'll lift you, and we'll ascend together. We must learn to live together as brothers or perish together as fools. Either men will learn to live like brothers, or they will die like beasts. We may have all come from different ships, but we’re on the same boat now There can be hope only for a society which acts as one big family, not as many separate ones. You really can change the world if you care enough. I'd rather see a sermon than hear one any day; The function of leadership is to produce more leaders, not more followers. "The greatest good you can do for another is not just share your riches, but reveal to them their own." -- Benjamin Disraeli When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace. – Jimi Hendrix Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven. |

“Example isn’t another way to teach, it is the only way to teach” – Albert Einstein We must become the change we want to see. “Management is doing things right; leadership is doing the right things.” – Peter F. Drucker “A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.” “To move people toward excellence, begin to expect excellence and then communicate that.” - Ron Clark “When you judge another, you do not define them, you define yourself.” -Wayne Dyer “Trust is the glue in relationships and organizations.” – Stephen Covey “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.” ~ John Quincy Adams “Do not wait for leaders; do it alone, person to person. ” – Mother Teresa The real leader has no need to lead--
he is content to point the way. “You need a plan to build a house. To build a life, it is even more important to have a plan or goal.” – Zig Ziglar “Organizing is what you do before you do something, so that when you do it, it is not all mixed up.” – A. A. Milne Rely on your own strength of body and soul. Take for your star self-reliance, faith, honesty and industry. Don't take too much advice — keep at the helm and steer your own ship, and remember that the great art of commanding is to take a fair share of the work. Fire above the mark you intend to hit. Energy, invincible determination with the right motive, are the levers that move the world. He who has never learned to obey
cannot be a good commander. Where there is no vision, the people perish. Let him who would be moved to convince others, be first moved to convince himself. No general can fight his battles alone. He must depend upon his lieutenants, and his success depends upon his ability to select the right man for the right place. "Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are." -- Coach Wooden Management is doing things right; leadership is doing the right things. -- Peter F. Drucker Leaders don't create followers, they create more leaders. -- Tom Peters "You do not lead by hitting people over the head - that's assault, not leadership." Dwight Eisenhower "A good objective of leadership is to help those who are doing poorly to do well and to help those who are doing well to do even better." -- Jim Rohn "Outstanding leaders go out of their way to boost the self-esteem of their personnel. If people believe in themselves, it's amazing what they can accomplish." Sam Walton "The leaders who work most effectively, it seems to me, never say "I". And that's not because they have trained themselves not to say "I". They don't think "I". They think "we"; they think "team". They understand their job to be to make the team function. They accept responsibility and don't sidestep it, but "we" gets the credit. This is what creates trust, what enables you to get the task done." Peter F. Drucker "Leaders aren't born, they are made. And they are made just like anything else, through hard work." Vince Lombardi "No man will make a great leader who wants to do it all himself or get all the credit for doing it." Andrew Carnegie "To have an open mind takes courage. It means allowing our ideas, thoughts, and beliefs to be challenged." Pulsifer, Catherine "The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy." Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. "Yes, leadership is about vision. But leadership is equally about creating a climate where the truth is heard and the brutal facts confronted." Jim Collins "Let your life mean something. Become an inspiration to others so that they may try to do more and to become more than they are today."-- Thomas D. Willhite "A man who wishes to lead the orchestra must turn his back on the crowd."-- Jack Lee Mankind must put an end to war or war will put an end to mankind. – John F. Kennedy An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest. – Benjamin Franklin A quick temper will make a fool of you soon enough. – Bruce Lee If you tell the truth, you don’t have to remember anything. - Mark Twain Wheresoever you go, go with all your heart – Confucius |
